With excessive weight gain from four pregnancies and years of unhealthy eating habits, Cynthia began experimenting with a diet based on whole grains, plant proteins, fruits, and vegetables following the principles of food combining. That led to a fantastic reduction in weight and overall improvement in health and energy and further learning of natural health and healing through diet and alternative therapies. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Health Sciences with a core curriculum in traditional naturopathy, nutrition, energy healing, herbology, homeopathy, holistic health and lifestyles, immune system health, detoxification, and weight management through nutrition. Cynthia is the editor and publisher of VegFamily, an online vegan and vegetarian lifestyle magazine and parent site of VegDieters.

Marty Davey is a Registered Dietitian and has a Masters degree in Food and Nutrition from Marywood University. She became a vegetarian in 1980 when she discovered that the French didn't want our meat products due to factory farming methods and began studying nutrition while cleansing her diet to a totally plant-based lifestyle. She has a private practice specializing in assisting clients transitioning from the conventional Western foods to a plant-based regime.

Nina Bailey

Dr. Nina Bailey is a nutritional scientist whose efforts are concentrated within the role of dietary health and nutritional intervention in disease, with particular emphasis being placed upon the role of essential fatty acids in conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome and depression. Dr. Bailey regularly holds training workshops both with the public and practitioners, and speaks on a variety of topics including digestive health, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and children's disorders. Dr. Bailey has authored peer-reviewed articles in leading science journals, as well as having written for national trade magazines. Dr. Bailey received her PhD in Cell Biology from Cambridge University. Her doctoral research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Sheila Bingham at the Dunn Human Nutrition Unit, Cambridge. Nina has published papers with the British Nutrition Foundation and with the trade magazine Network Health Dietician.

Angie Shapira is a strong believer in the body's natural ability to heal itself. She made a sharp career turn 10 years ago, after 16 years of working as a software engineer. During that period she solved several of her health problems in natural ways, raised her two children without antibiotics, with natural remedies, and helped her friends do the same. Eventually she decided to switch to the field of alternative therapies, and made it her goal to help and educate as many as she can towards a healthier, natural way of living. Today she works as a Traditional Naturopath, Senior Shiatsu practitioner and a certified yoga teacher. A Master Herbalist, certified in 1999 from the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tom is also certified in Clinical Massage Therapy, Hypnoanalysis, and holds a Black Belt in two different forms of Karate. In 2004 he received his Ph.D. in Philosophy in Natural Health with a specialization in Iridology. He maintains a private practice in Michigan.

Isiris Casiano-Holland

A vegetarian for close to 20 years, Isiris is a Physical Education and Health Education teacher in the NYC public school system, a water-aerobics instructor to senior citizens at the Mt. Vernon YMCA and an instructor and personal trainer at the NY Health & Racquet Club. She is also the founder and teacher of MotherDance--a belly dance-based prenatal exercise class. She is also a Reiki Master and uses crystals for healing in her Reiki practice, has experience in EFT-tapping technique for emotional healing and is currently pursuing Wellness Counseling certification.
